First half an hour consultation with proposal outline is free.
Each hour after that for all services, except family albums, is £25 plus expenses. Services includes research, analysis and report writing. All time spent on research is chargeable even when regretfully nothing is found.
Expenses such as certificates, postage, printing and photocopies are charged at cost. Costs will vary as different archives charge different rates.
Mileage is not charged for visits to Carlisle Archives. All other places in Cumbria are charged at 32p per mile.
Lancashire Archives are located in Preston (best/cheapest accessed by rail), train tickets at cost.
Durham, Northumberland and Yorkshire Archives also by train at cost.
Family albums depending on size start at £800, additional copies £50.
For open-ended research projects and family albums a deposit is required in advance, and payments will be expected in stages as the research progresses.
